Discover the who, what, and why of the What If Experience podcast in this podcaster’s version of an “About Me” post.
I am soon to be 49 years old. I am NOT the awkward middle school preteen that was a year younger than all the other girls as well as late to develop. I am NOT the college girl with the abusive boyfriend. I am NOT the woman in a bizarre marriage. I am NOT the athlete I was at 16. What I am is a FANTASTIC single mom. A successful business owner. An artist with collectors. A published writer. What I am is a caring, brave, generous, wise, dedicated, intelligent, sexy, creative woman. What I am is a trail-running, word-loving, sea-needing, BBQ-eating, dog-saving, over-thinking, community-building, self-caring, world-exploring architect of my own life. I will no longer compare my today with old stories. How patently ridiculous to think that my 49 year old body full of the scars, stories and experiences of my life should look like my 16 year old pre-story self. I will no longer disrespect my story and my body by dismissing it. So, today I’m looking. I’m gazing. I’m noticing what’s there now, who I am on the outside and accepting that it’s part of the story. My life has much to celebrate. I will treat my body the same way. I wrote the words above almost a year ago (and resisted edited them today, other than removing an f-bomb). Reading them now, as I creep up on 50, I’m a bit surprised that the lesson stuck. It really sunk in. I rarely compare myself to old stories any more. I wrote this as I made my way through Stasia’s Style School, a 5 week online course in style and life lessons. This is not an affiliate promotion, I’ve just seen it transform lives in many, many ways. She’s opening her doors again tomorrow…consider jumping in.Read More
